It's All the Rage!

It's very strange. Oftimes I'll blog about something and discover that someone else is sorta thinking the same thing. Of course, more often than not, that's not happening.

But today I got finished with my work about 20 min before actual going home time. Well, there was still work, but nothing that could really be done in that length of time, so I took a break and read a couple of blogs. Everyone's talking about it, or doing it. Crazy Aunt Purl wants to. Ann, of Mason Dixon fame is doing it well. And I'm trying. And no, it isn't washcloths.

Decluttering! I don't have 18 bags full but I haven't been doing it full time this week. Tonight I just did a little bit. Cleared out one of the cabinets in the bathroom. A quick job since bill paying and playing with those little fabric squares were things I needed/wanted to do. But I was amazed at how much crap was in that cabinet. Gel with less than 1/4 inch in the bottle. 3 deoderant thingies that would have probably ripped me up had I tried to use them...there was barely a trace left. A bandaid box with one bandaid that seemed to be almost antique. LOL Oh and shampoo bottles with just a wee bit left and it wasn't as if they were really wonderful things that I wanted to keep forever..just dumb plastic bottles. But it's all gone now. I wonder what I was thinking. Revolution was gonna come and I was going to barter some congealed shampoo for yarn??? Who knows?

hehehehe.... I have to say I've been doing the same thing with the couple of weeks I have left before school starts. I'm very embarrassed to say that I spent 3 hours this morning working in a storage room, and that time was spent by breaking down cardboard boxes and filling garbage bags with crap I haven't used in about 6 or 7 years. How many humidifiers does one need? I got rid of 4 of them today (and yes, I still had the box that each one came in). 5 garbage bags and 3 boxes filled with broken down cardboard later, I feel like I've accomplished something. Oy....

My husband collects little shampoos and soaps from hotels. Sometimes, there's a 'tragic' accident where some of those things end up in the trash. Even the homeless at the shelters are saying "No more!"

Paul, it's nice to know I'm in such good company! Whatcha gonna throw away today? And more importantly...why the hell do we save this stuff?

Hey! We decluttered at the start of the summer -- does that count? I will swear that hundreds of kids books were given away and almost as many toys and such. Bags and bags ...

Good luck if you choose to do any more.

It really does seem to be a trend, doesn't it? I've been doing it, too, off and on. It's amazing how much stuff finds it's way in the house, isn't it?

Nope! He has so much other stuff, he doesn't even notice. I used to dump them into a bigger bottle, but do you know how much time that takes? Eats up quality knitting time, not cool. ;)

Devorah, you're a leader then...and you can sit back all smug while the rest of us wade through stuff. We can always use an organized icon! *G*

Cookie, I'm thinking Mel sneaks in during the night and piles crap on my shelves. well...mebbe!

Laura...maybe if I tell myself that dealing with something will take away knitting time, I won't bring it home. Ya think?

You know we are all tossing out stuff to make room for more yarn..

I am planning to reclaim a few areas in my house this weekend.

I've got the fever too!

Ann, you may have something there! Now if my budget agrees, this could be a very wonderful thing!
