Playing in the dirt

Well, I am a red dirt knitter. And no yarn was injured in this adventure.

They are replacing the bridge over the creek down the street and they had all this dirt piled up, so disobeying all that yellow tape, me and my basket decided to have a photo op. The first time, I had a skein of brown/beige/white yarn where the berry yarn is now but it totally washed out in the harsh sunlight. So I came home and cooled off a bit and tried again. This worked better and besides a friend gave me a cold beer to celebrate success .

And just about the time that I finished the beer, it clouded up and it has just poured off and on all evening. So it's a good thing I didn't plan this for tomorrow. Somehow Red Mud Knitter just doesn't sound the same.

That is one extremely cool photo. I love it....I think that ought to be a post card..or a greeting card or something.

Thanks Ann! I love having a digital camera so I can take 30 pictures of the same thing and then choose only one. I think if I am ever in another swap, I'll print one out and paste it to the note I include with the gift. Guess I'd better ask Dave's permission tho since his lovely yarn is there too.

LOL Devorah, yes but not with yarn. :-)

It is always good to have friends who offer cold beer!
I love the photo! Could you turn it into a button for your blog? Your banner?

Kirsten, I wish! In spite of numerous emails and tutoring from Ann, I still haven't managed to even put other people's buttons on my site. Wonder if Geek Squad does that. Thank you for the compliment especially from someone who does such wondrous photos!

I love Kirsten's idea about making that photo a button. It's great idea, and a really cool photo!

Thanks Paul. I am pretty proud of it. I don't know how folks take pictures without shadows though. I guess you can't be in the sun?

Thanks Cookie. I felt like quite the photographer when I realized I'd taken 30 some pics of a basket LOL. I did decide that next time I need to wear a cap with a visor 'cause the sun was so bright that I could barely see through the view finder thing.

Ahem. If you were the Red MUD Knitter, don't wear white socks to play in the mud unless you want to be the Pink Sock Wearing Knitter. Thus says the voice of experience. I had a lot of pink socks growing up. ;)

LOL Laura..I know that scenario well, as did my mom. Yesterday as I watched it rain, I thought I should have scooped a bucketful and brought it home to see what sort of dying I could do with it. Now, being rainsoaked, I probably couldn't even lift the bucket!

You know what would be fun...

Knit up some white socks and then go play in the mud. :D
